TURTON PLAYS 45 FOR B TEAM ON RETURN

19 January 2024

Ollie back following long-term knee injury.

- Ollie Turton plays 45 minutes on return with B Team
- Defender has been out for nearly a year with knee injury
- Young Terriers beaten heavily after red card for Daley

Ollie Turton played his first 45 minutes in nearly a year for Town’s B Team tonight in our Premier League Cup game against Nottingham Forest.

The 31-year-old defender, who has been sidelined with a serious knee injury since early 2023, played his planned 45 minutes at the John Smith’s Stadium before being withdrawn at half time in the latest step of his comeback.

Turton looked sharp and didn’t put a foot wrong during his time on the pitch in what was otherwise a tough evening for the Young Terriers.

The game was fairly even for the first 25 minutes, with our right-sided duo of Omari Mrisho and Neo Eccleston causing a few issues for the visitors, but they gradually took control of the ball and led by two at the interval through Ateef Konate and Kyle McAdam.

The night got much tougher just five minutes into the second period when Luke Daley received his second yellow card and group leaders Forest took full advantage, eventually winning 8-0 after turning the screw in the final 15 minutes.

Regardless, Town can still qualify from the group, currently sitting second ahead of Fleetwood Town and Newcastle United.
